Choosing holiday accommodation is a pretty big deal so we understand if you have a few questions. We've put together some of the most frequently asked questions to help you along the way.


Q: How do I book?

We can now take bookings directly through our website. We are also on the following listing sites:

  • Trip Advisor

  • Airbnb



It should be noted that whilst it is free for guests to book through our website, other listing sites may charge an additional booking fee.


Q: How and when do I pay for my booking?


Payment can be made securely by Visa/MasterCard, Paypal or by Bank Transfer. At the time of booking you will be prompted 

to select a payment method. A 30% deposit will be taken to secure the booking and the balance will be due 4 weeks before your arrival. You will be sent a reminder when this is due. When you place a booking with an arrival date that is within 4 weeks the full amount will be payable at the time of booking.


We also require a 150 GBP damage deposit on all bookings. This is returned to you after your stay provided there is no damage to the property or its contents. How we take this varies depending on the payment method you choose.


Visa/MasterCard: 2 days before your arrival we pre-authorise the damage deposit on your card. Payment is not taken it is just reserved to be used in the case of any damage. This hold is released within 7 days of your departure.


Paypal: If you choose to pay for your booking with Paypal the damage deposit is paid with the balance 4 weeks before your arrival. It is then refunded back to you through Paypal within 7 days of your departure.


Bank Transfer: If you choose to pay for your booking via bank transfer the damage deposit is paid with the balance 4 weeks before your arrival. It is then refunded back to your bank account within 7 days of your departure. This will require you to provide us with your bank details after your stay.


NB: Credit/debit card payments are securely processed through our merchant HolidayRentPayment which is powered by YapStone International Ltd. The YapStone payment platform is Level One PCI compliant, the highest information security standard level set forth in the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).

Q: Why do you take a damage deposit?

            We work very hard to make sure that the apartments are in perfect condition for every one of our guests and taking a damage

deposit ensures that all our guests take care of the property during their stay. It should be noted that retaining any or all of a    

damage deposit is very rare and we do not retain money for an accidentally broken glass etc. 

Q: How far is it to the city centre?

Our apartments are very central. Our Bijou and Castle View are slap bang in the middle of town with everything you need on your doorstep. 


Q: Is there Parking?

Due to the central location of the apartments, parking is limited. 

There is metered parking on weekdays & Saturdays from 8.30am to 6.30pm in the surrounding streets. For alternative parking you can go to Justpark and search for "King Stables Lane, Edinburgh". This will show you all the available parking nearby. 


Q: How far is the airport/train station?

Edinburgh Airport is about 7 miles out of town. There are regular buses & trams into the city centre or you can get an airport taxi which should cost from 25 GBP and takes 30 minutes to an hour depending on the time of day. More info on the airport website here.


Waverley Station is within walking distance of all the apartments but if you have heavy bags you might want to get a taxi as there are a couple of steep hills! A taxi should only cost about 5 GBP.


Q: Will there be towels/a hairdryer/iron & ironing board in the apartment?

Yes to all of the above!


Q: Do you have WiFi?

All the apartments have unlimited high speed Wifi internet included in the price.


Q: What time can we check in/out?

Check-in is from 3pm onwards and check-out is at 11am. We can sometimes be flexible on these times depending on our other bookings so please do ask if another time would be more convenient. 


NB: There is a 15 GBP charge for check-ins after 10pm. 


Q: How do we get the keys?

We will email you the week before you arrive to confirm the details and arrange to meet you at the apartment to give you keys, show you around and answer any questions you may have. Occasionally we are unable to meet guests on arrival, in the cases we have a lock-box at the door to the apartments where we can securely leave a key.


Q: Can you recommend a good restaurant?
Absolutely! The following lists are made up of places we have either tried ourselves or friends and past guests have raved about. There are so many great restaurants to choose from in Edinburgh and the list is by no means exhaustive so if you have a one you recommend then please let us know and we'll add it to the list!
